Brandon Holtmeier picked up the victory in the ICL Non Wing National Tour at Oswego Speedway, taking advantage after Brenden McGlothlin’s strong run out front came to an end late in the race. Holtmeier was making just his second appearance of the season and turned it into his 16th career ICL win in his 333rd career start.
McGlothlin looked like the driver to beat for most of the race. He started from the pole, led the opening 14 laps, and also earned the qualifying fast time bonus point. McGlothlin set the fastest lap of the race with a 17.537, showing the pace that allowed him to control the early portion of the event.
The race changed on lap 15 when McGlothlin jumped the cushion and wrecked out of the lead. That handed the top spot to Holtmeier, who had been positioned close enough to capitalize. Holtmeier led the final six laps and held on for the win, earning 12 race points for the night.
Aidan Strawberry finished second and kept pressure on Holtmeier all the way to the end. Strawberry was all over the leader in the closing laps, but he could not find enough to get by. Even without the win, Strawberry added 11 more points to his season total and continued to build his championship lead.
Alexander Macy finished third after starting sixth, gaining three positions and earning 10 points. Macy’s podium run helped him continue to strengthen his spot inside the top 10 in the National Tour standings. McGlothlin was credited fourth after leading the most laps and earning the bonus point, giving him 10 total points for the race.
Brayden E Carter rounded out the top five and remains third in the overall standings. Jaxon Hill finished sixth, while Ryan Wake2 was the hard charger of the race after climbing from 11th to 7th. Gavan Shelton, Walker Matthews, Colin Cox, and Shawn Hayes completed the finishing order.
The points battle remains controlled by Strawberry, who now has 151 total points. Logan Prickett sits second, 33 points back, while Carter is third, 69 points behind the leader. McGlothlin remains fourth and is now 76 points behind Strawberry. With each race paying 12 points to win, one fewer point for each position behind, and one bonus point available for qualifying fast time, Strawberry’s second-place finish at Oswego Speedway added another strong cushion to his season lead.
