The ICL Modified Lernerville Championship moved into a critical late-season round at Lernerville Speedway, and Race 5 delivered one of the biggest storyline swings of the season. With only one race remaining after this event, every position had championship meaning, every bonus point mattered, and the night ended with Jesse Newsome breaking through for a major victory while the title picture stayed mathematically alive for four drivers.
Newsome’s win was his fourth ICL victory of 2026, and it came after a hard-fought battle that defined the first half of the race. Bradley W Carter started on the pole and was looking for his third career win in his 19th start, while also making his first ICL start since October 2024. He showed immediate speed, led laps, and stayed locked in a fight with Newsome as the two swapped the lead repeatedly through the opening half of the feature.
The decisive difference came as the race reached its second half. Newsome eventually took control and turned the race into his own, leading 18 of the 25 laps and holding on for the win. It was not a runaway early, but it became the kind of composed closing drive that wins late-season races. With 12 race points for the victory, Newsome immediately inserted himself into the season conversation even though he has only made one start in the championship.
Bradley W Carter still left a major mark on the race despite finishing eighth. He earned the qualifying fast time bonus point and also posted the fastest lap of the race with a 15.167. That bonus point mattered in the final scoring and reflected just how much speed he had throughout the night. The tough part was the finishing result, as a race that started with win potential ultimately ended outside the top five.
Behind Newsome, Brayden E Carter delivered a strong runner-up finish, while Aiden W Stull put together the hard-charger drive of the night by going from 16th to third. That podium was huge for Stull’s championship hopes. Dane Norris also had a standout night, finishing fourth for the best result of his career in only his fourth career start. Tyler Bickford completed the top five, continuing to build a solid points base late in the season.
The championship battle is now down to one final race, and four drivers still have a mathematical shot at the title. Brenden McGlothlin remains the leader with 36 points, but Stull is only three points back at 33. Aidan Strawberry sits third at 24, while Andy Hunter is fourth at 23. McGlothlin still controls the path, but with 13 possible points available in a race, the finale still has real championship pressure attached to it.
The biggest points move belonged to Aidan Strawberry, who climbed two spots in the standings and now sits third. Brayden E Carter also made a major move, jumping nine spots after his second-place run. On the other end, Mark Hodge2 had the toughest position swing in the race, starting third and finishing 15th. With one race left, the ICL Modified Lernerville Championship has a clear front-runner, but the title is not locked yet.
