The ICL Modified Lernerville Championship wrapped up at Lernerville Speedway with a finale that delivered a dominant race winner and a one-point championship finish. Tyler Bickford controlled the feature from the front, while Brenden McGlothlin watched the points battle tighten around him and still held on to win the series championship by the slimmest possible margin.
Bickford put together the cleanest night of the finale. He started on the pole, earned the qualifying fast time bonus point, led all 25 laps, and scored the race win for a perfect 13-point night. It was Bickford’s second career ICL win in his 20th career start, and his first victory since December 2024, when he won in a Super Late Model at Knoxville. This one was about full control from start to finish, as Bickford dominated the feature and was never truly challenged for the top spot.
Behind Bickford, Aidan Strawberry did everything he could to keep the championship pressure alive. Strawberry came home second and gained 11 points on the night, moving to 35 total points in the standings. That brought him within one point of McGlothlin, but it was not quite enough to steal the title. Brayden E Carter finished third, Andy Hunter was fourth, and Doug Welch rounded out the top five after charging from 14th to fifth.
The championship story is what will be remembered most from the finale. McGlothlin did not race the final event, but the points cushion he built earlier in the season was just enough. He ends the Modified Lernerville Championship with 36 points, one ahead of Strawberry and three ahead of Aiden W Stull. In a format where a win pays 12 points and the qualifying fast time bonus adds one more, the finale showed exactly how important every point was across the full season.
There were several major swings during the race as front-running drivers lost strong finishes. Joshua Dyer2 and Layne Riley were among the drivers who slid off the racing surface and saw promising nights come apart. Hunter was in the mix with Carter and Strawberry before also driving off the top in turn 4, but he was still able to recover and finish fourth, which helped him close the year tied with Bickford for fourth in the standings.
The fastest lap of the race went to Layne Riley, who turned a 15.135 before his night faded. The hard charger was shared by Doug Welch and Tyler Sweat, who each gained nine positions from where they started. Welch’s run from 14th to fifth was especially important in the final points, moving him to sixth overall with 29 points. Sweat’s run from 15th to sixth was also one of the strongest drives of the night.
When the season ended, McGlothlin stood as champion with 36 points. Strawberry finished second with 35, Stull third with 33, and Bickford and Hunter tied at 32. It was the kind of Lernerville-only championship that rewarded consistency, bonus points, and surviving the nights where the track took contenders out of the fight.
