The ICL Modified Regional East Series wrapped up in style at Weedsport Speedway, delivering a sharp, strategic 25-lap finale that featured a family 1-2 finish at the front and a championship picture that’s now officially settled. With big points on the line and Weedsport’s pace demanding perfection, every lap mattered—from the early lead exchanges to the closing charge that decided the race win.
Out front, the story quickly became the battle between Tommy Toughknuckles, Michael D. Carter, and Brayden E. Carter. Toughknuckles controlled the early portion by leading 9 laps and also snagged the qualifying fast time bonus point—an extra detail that mattered in the totals, turning his night into a 10-point haul (9 for fourth, plus 1 bonus). But once the race found its rhythm, Michael D. Carter began applying pressure where it counted.
That pressure paid off at lap 10, when Michael D. Carter worked his way around Toughknuckles to take control of the lead and never looked back. Carter led the final 16 laps and sealed the win, ending a long wait for a trip to victory lane—his first win since July 2025. It’s another milestone in a career that continues to stack up historically: Carter is 7th on the all-time ICL starts list and 4th on the all-time wins list, and he added to that legacy with a decisive performance at Weedsport.
Behind him, Brayden E. Carter kept the fight honest all race long. After starting 9th and finishing 2nd, Brayden was the hard charger of the night (+7 positions), proving again why he’s been the benchmark in this title run. The closing laps tightened up, but the gap Brayden needed never fully opened as Michael stayed composed in clean air and protected the line to the checkered.
The podium battle was just as notable. Kane Williams brought it home 3rd for his best career finish, and it came in his first series start since 2024—an immediate statement that he can jump back in and contend. Toughknuckles’ 4th-place run was also his best finish, and with the bonus point added, he made the most of the night even after losing the lead.
Mid-pack had its own share of turning points. Clayton D. Johnson—a winner earlier in ths season—saw his run go sideways after contact with Hunter Smith12 around lap 6. And Casey Brunson2, making his first start since 2024, was charging forward before contact with Jordan Lafon ended that push while they were racing near the top five. Even with those swings, the points picture is now crystal clear: Brayden E. Carter’s season is championship-complete, and the finale simply underlined how strong the campaign has been.
