The iRacing Champions League officially kicked off the 410 Winged Sprint Volusia Championship at Volusia Speedway Park, and the opening race delivered one of the most competitive battles seen in recent 410 action. In a race that featured multiple lead changes and constant pressure at the front, Jaxon Raudabaugh broke through for his first career win in just his fifth career start, setting the tone for what looks to be a wide-open championship battle.
Raudabaugh started second and quickly established himself as a contender, engaging in a race-long duel with Seth Gregory. The two drivers traded the lead multiple times, showcasing aggressive but controlled racing at the front of the field. At one point, Raudabaugh made contact with the inside wall while battling for position, which collected Gregory and forced him into a spin. Despite the moment, Raudabaugh regrouped and maintained control of the race, ultimately leading 15 laps and securing the victory along with the full 12 race points.
Behind him, Brayden E. Carter delivered another strong performance, finishing second after starting sixth. Carter continues to build momentum early in the season, combining speed with consistency to remain firmly in the championship picture. Seth Gregory, despite the earlier incident while battling for the lead, recovered to finish third and collect valuable points, including the 1 bonus point for qualifying fast time, keeping himself right in the mix after the opening round.
Further back, Ross Wece turned in a standout drive, finishing fourth in just his second career start, marking his best career finish. Connor Carey also made an immediate impression in his first career start, rounding out the top five with a strong and composed run. The ability for new drivers to step in and contend early adds another layer of unpredictability to the Volusia Championship.
The race also featured notable movement through the field. Drivers such as Adam Burkett and Levi Fisher held solid positions inside the top ten, while others fought through the pack to gain experience in the opening round. With no prior history at Volusia in ICL 410 competition, the race served as a baseline for performance, giving drivers a clearer picture of what it will take to compete for wins moving forward.
From a championship standpoint, the points system immediately puts emphasis on both race results and qualifying performance. Raudabaugh’s win gives him the early edge, but Carter and Gregory sit just behind, separated by only a handful of points. With five races remaining in the six-race championship, the margin for error is already small, and every position gained or lost will carry significant weight as the season progresses.
