The iRacing Champions League is proud to announce a brand-new pavement series: the Super Late Model Thompson Speedway Championship. This marks a milestone moment for ICL, as it will be the first-ever Super Late Model event hosted at Thompson Speedway in league history. With a fresh venue, a focused format, and championship stakes on the line, this series introduces a new challenge for drivers looking to etch their name into the ICL record books.
The Thompson Speedway Championship will feature a six-race schedule, all contested at the same track and in the same division. The concept is simple and demanding: whoever scores the most points across the six events will be crowned the Season 1 Track Champion. With no room to hide behind track variation, success will come down to adaptability, consistency, and the ability to execute race after race on a historic oval that has never before hosted an ICL Super Late Model field.
A $75 total purse will be awarded at the conclusion of the series, adding real incentive to the championship fight. The Track Champion will earn $25, with payouts decreasing by $5 per finishing position behind the winner. As with all ICL payout events, drivers must be registered as ICL VIPs to be eligible for prize money and provisionals. While payouts are reserved for VIP members, races are open to all drivers, require no signup, and will be available through public lobbies.
Momentum heading into this new series will be an important storyline. Several drivers are expected to carry confidence from the recently completed USA International Speedway Super Late Model Track Championship. Drivers who found consistency, late-season speed, or championship-caliber performances in that series will enter Thompson as immediate contenders, even as everyone learns the nuances of a brand-new track environment together.
What makes this championship particularly compelling is the unknown factor. With no prior SLM events at Thompson under the ICL banner, there are no established benchmarks, no historical playbook, and no dominant trends to lean on. Every lap turned will contribute to building the legacy of Super Late Model racing at Thompson within ICL, and Season 1 will set the standard for all future editions of the championship.
