The second round of the iRacing Champions League 410 Winged Sprint Volusia Championship delivered one of the closest finishes of the young season at Volusia Speedway Park, as Brayden E. Carter captured his fourth career ICL 410 Winged Sprint Car victory in dramatic fashion. The 25-lap feature came down to a last-lap move on the backstretch, where Carter completed the pass for the lead before narrowly holding off Aidan Strawberry in a near photo finish exiting turn four.
Carter started from the pole and remained a factor throughout the race, but the battle for the lead shifted multiple times over the course of the feature. Strawberry led the majority of the race with 19 laps out front and appeared poised to secure the victory, but Carter mounted one final charge late in the closing laps. The decisive moment came on the backstretch of the final lap when Carter slipped by for the lead. Strawberry nearly answered immediately with a strong run off turn four, but Carter edged him at the line to secure the win by just 0.076 seconds.
The victory was even more impressive considering the overall pace throughout the field. Carter also earned the 1-point qualifying bonus, while Strawberry turned the fastest lap of the race with a blistering 13.973-second lap. With both drivers maximizing points in different ways, the championship picture tightened significantly after two races. Carter’s combination of speed, qualifying pace, and race execution now places him at the top of the standings heading into the next round.
Behind the lead duo, several drivers delivered breakout performances. Kyle Peters finished third in his first career start, immediately establishing himself as a contender in the Volusia Championship. Parker Burch followed with a fourth-place finish, tying his best career result in ICL 410 competition. Cash Culp completed the top five after a steady run that kept him competitive throughout the race.
The middle of the field also featured strong momentum swings and championship implications. Jason Blackmer earned a top-ten finish in his series debut, while Timmy Sherman improved from his opening-race result to move upward in the standings. Meanwhile, opening-round winner Jaxon Raudabaugh endured one of the toughest nights among the championship contenders after leading the standings entering the event. Despite the setback, Raudabaugh remains second overall in points and firmly within striking distance with four races still remaining.
With two races complete, the battle for the inaugural 410 Winged Sprint Volusia Championship is beginning to take shape. Carter now leads the standings with 24 points after combining a win, a runner-up finish, and a qualifying bonus point across the first two races. Raudabaugh remains close behind, while Strawberry made one of the biggest moves in the standings after his runner-up finish vaulted him into third. The championship margin remains tight enough that one strong night could completely reshuffle the order, adding even more importance to every lap moving forward.
