Cru Jones made an immediate statement in the ICL Non Wing National Tour at Eldora Speedway, winning in his first career iRacing Champions League start. Jones started third, took control of the 22-lap feature, and led every lap on his way to the victory.
Jones was strong from the start and never gave up the top spot. He led all 22 laps and finished 0.672 seconds ahead of Tanner Pettit. Jones also turned a fastest lap of 15.003 and finished the race with a 15.375 average lap, giving him a clean and controlled debut win in one of the biggest events of the season.
Pettit’s night was one of the biggest stories of the race even without the win. Pettit elected to start tail, then got caught up in several other drivers’ incidents, but still drove all the way back to Jones’ bumper on the final lap. He finished second and earned 11 race points, while also picking up the one-point qualifying fast time bonus for a 12-point night.
Alexander Macy finished third and continued to build momentum inside the top 10 in points. Macy earned 10 points with the podium run and moved into a tie for sixth in the overall standings with Jayden Wolf. Landen Gansen finished fourth, while Karsyn Foster rounded out the top five.
The hard charger of the race was Dalten Maust, who climbed from 15th to 8th and gained seven positions. Carter Markley also made a strong move forward from 14th to 9th, while Ronnie Wuerdeman gained three spots to finish sixth. Blake Henn had the toughest night by position change, starting fourth and finishing 14th.
In the season standings, Aidan Strawberry remains the ICL Non Wing National Tour points leader with 163 total points. Logan Prickett sits second, 45 points back, while Brayden E Carter holds third, 73 points behind. Brenden McGlothlin remains fourth, Parker Leek is fifth, and Macy’s podium run moved him into a tie with Jayden Wolf for sixth. Pettit’s runner-up finish and bonus point also helped him climb back into the top 10.
With each race paying 12 points to win, one fewer point for each position behind, and one bonus point available for qualifying fast time, Pettit matched Jones on points for the night despite Jones winning the race. That made Eldora Speedway a big night for both drivers, while Strawberry’s championship lead remained unchanged at the top because the closest points challengers were not inside the feature results.
