The SK Modified Weekly at Concord rolled into its latest round with an event that turned into one of the most dramatic races of the season. The action up front lasted the entire distance, with multiple drivers showing race-winning pace and the points battle tightening as the laps wound down.
Early on, Davis Warren looked set to continue his dominance, leading the majority of the race and collecting another strong run toward his season tally. The turning point came on lap 26 when Warren and Brayden Carter both caught the outside wall off turn one while fighting for the lead. The moment allowed Aidan Strawberry to move forward, seizing the opportunity to advance and ultimately take command of the race. From there, Strawberry never looked back, driving to his first victory of the season.
One of the brightest stars of the night was rookie driver Jacob Schmitz. Starting from eighth on the grid, Schmitz drove a smooth and aggressive race to move into the top five by the finish, earning the Hard Charger award with three positions gained. He also set the fastest lap of the race with a 15.250-second flyer on lap 5, proving he had the speed to compete at the front. For a driver making only his second series start, it was his best finish to date.
Warrenβs third-place run was still enough to add to his season total, and with this finish, he has mathematically clinched the Season 1 SK Modified Weekly championship at Concord. Strawberryβs victory was enough to vault him seven positions in the standings, now sitting firmly in the runner-up spot. That gain represents the biggest leap of the week in the championship fight. Behind them, Jesse Henderson, Ryan Kuhlthau, and Hunter Leroy all remain tied in third, while drivers like Braxton McCullough and Brayden Carter continue to show improvement in their young campaigns.
With the title now decided in Warrenβs favor, the focus shifts to the remaining races where the fight for positions two through five in the standings promises to bring just as much drama as the title chase itself. Momentum is shifting as drivers gain confidence, and the battles deeper in the standings are becoming just as intense as those at the front.
