SK Modifieds Set to Debut at Concord Speedway in New ICL Weekly Series

The iRacing Champions League is taking its SK Modified program into uncharted territory. The next Weekly Series will unfold at Concord Speedway, a track that has hosted only one prior ICL event in league history — a Street Stock feature. For the first time, the open-wheel SK Mods will battle the tricky half-mile oval, and if history is any indication, fans are in for a fresh round of unpredictability.

A New Track for the SK Mods

Concord’s sweeping, asymmetrical corners and tight racing lines make it one of the more unique tracks on iRacing’s short track calendar. With no SK Modified history here, there are no benchmarks, no records, and no proven strategies. Every driver will be writing a new chapter in the ICL book.

The only frame of reference comes from the lone Street Stock event. While the cars are vastly different in horsepower and handling, the results from that race provide an early look at who might adapt quickly.

The Street Stock Connection

In the one and only ICL Street Stock event at Concord, Brayden E. Carter came out on top. Starting on pole and leading nearly half the laps, Carter controlled the pace and collected the win. With Carter already a proven SK Modified champion, his ability to translate success between divisions could make him the early favorite heading into this series.

Behind him, drivers like Casey Wynn (P2) and Doug Welch (P5) showed solid pace in the Street Stocks and are also well-established in SK Modified competition. Wynn’s consistency has been a hallmark of every SK series, while Welch’s veteran presence often makes him a factor on technical tracks.

Other names who left Concord with top-ten results — Jeremy Webber, Craig Findlay, Chance Sizemore, and Zach Hummel — could also return in SK Modified trim. If they do, their prior laps around the speedway may give them an edge over drivers making their very first Concord start.

Unpredictability Ahead

The list of potential spoilers is long. Drivers like Dale Owen, Braden Morrie, and Ethan Guptill — all proven SK Modified winners — didn’t appear in the Street Stock event but could instantly shake up the standings if they enter this series. Add in the usual mix of part-time specialists and one-race wonders, and the stage is set for another wide-open championship fight.

Weekly Series Stakes

The Concord Weekly Series will feature the standard ICL Weekly format: six races, all at the same track, with the champion crowned by total points. With payouts available to the top five finishers, every lap will matter. The series may span multiple months, with race nights announced in the ICL Discord.

The Big Picture

The SK Modified debut at Concord Speedway represents another milestone for the iRacing Champions League. A clean slate for records, a fresh chance for rising stars, and a test of adaptability for established champions — this series has all the ingredients to become one of the most unpredictable Weekly Series yet.
