Nathan J Walker could not have scripted a better introduction to the iRacing Champions League. Making his first career ICL start in Round 16 of the Modified National Tour at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, Walker started from the pole, led all 30 laps, earned the qualifying fast-time bonus and scored the maximum 13 points available. His first career start officially became his first career victory with one of the most complete performances of Season 3.
Walker controlled the feature from the opening lap and never surrendered the lead. He also recorded the fastest lap of the race with a 13.092-second circuit, completing a sweep of the major statistical categories. Riley Scrivens stayed closest throughout the race and finished second, 2.644 seconds behind Walker. The result was a massive career improvement for Scrivens, whose previous best ICL finish had been 10th.
Mason Martinez2 completed the podium in only his second career ICL start. Martinez started third and finished third, giving him another strong result very early in his ICL career. Aidan Strawberry finished fourth from fifth, continuing to collect valuable points as the Modified National Tour championship moves deeper into its closing stretch.
The remainder of the top five included another debut driver, Cameron C Keller, who finished fifth in his first career start. Shawn Gauldin also made his ICL debut and finished sixth. Luke Bennett produced the hard-charger performance of the feature, climbing from 14th to seventh for a gain of seven positions. Brayden E Carter finished eighth, Jared Cochran ninth and Tyler Crimmins completed the top 10.
The championship picture tightened behind Strawberry after I-55. Strawberry added nine points and now leads the Modified National Tour with 145. Brayden E Carter moved into second with 93, just one point ahead of Darren Diggs at 92. Carter and Diggs are now separated by the smallest possible margin, creating a major battle for second as the season approaches its conclusion.
Strawberry’s advantage at the top is now 52 points over Carter with five races remaining in the 21-race season. With as many as 13 points available in each remaining round, 65 points are still theoretically available, meaning the championship is not yet mathematically locked up. Strawberry remains in an extremely strong position, but every remaining finish still matters.
Thomas Smith IV remains fourth in the standings with 56 points, followed by Tanner Riedel at 49 and Doug Welch at 46. Kenny Douglas sits seventh with 37, while Anthony Ely holds eighth at 23. Andy Hunter and Jensen Pray2 remain tied for ninth with 19 points each.
The I-55 race also highlighted how quickly new names can make an impact in ICL competition. Walker won immediately in his debut, Keller finished fifth in his first start and Gauldin finished sixth in his first appearance. Combined with Martinez’s podium in only his second start and Scrivens producing a new career-best finish, Round 16 delivered several career milestones while the championship battle continued to develop.
