The iRacing Champions League is heading to one of the most iconic short tracks in sim racing with the launch of the all-new King of Martinsville Speedway series. This will be the first ever season of the series, giving drivers a brand-new opportunity to chase a championship at Martinsville Speedway across nine different divisions. With each race featuring a different type of car, King of Martinsville Speedway will put a premium on versatility, consistency, and adapting quickly to one of the toughest tracks on the schedule.
Unlike a single-division championship, this series is designed to test every part of a driver’s skill set. Martinsville Speedway is famous for close-quarters racing, heavy braking zones, and the kind of pressure that builds over long green-flag runs. Over the course of nine races, drivers will take on everything from short track stock cars to top-tier NASCAR machinery, all with one goal in mind: score the most points across the entire schedule and become the first ever King of Martinsville Speedway champion.
Because this is the inaugural season, there are no past ICL winners or champions at Martinsville Speedway in any of these divisions. That makes this series especially interesting from the start. Every race winner will become the first of their kind in ICL competition at the track, and the eventual champion will be the first driver to etch their name into the history of the King of Martinsville Speedway series. With no past Martinsville results to lean on, the door is wide open for a new short track star to emerge.
The format should create a wide-open title fight from the very beginning. Drivers who can win in one division may not automatically be the favorites in another, and that means consistency could matter just as much as outright speed. A driver who keeps their nose clean, adapts from race to race, and stacks up strong finishes across the full nine-race stretch could be just as dangerous as someone who grabs an early win. Martinsville rewards patience, precision, and race management, and over a series this long, those traits could be what separates the contenders from the rest of the field.
There will also be extra incentive to stay in the fight all season long. The series will pay a $75 purse to the top 5 in the final standings, but drivers must be ICL VIP members to be eligible for payouts. As always with ICL, the races themselves are open to everyone. There is no sign-up required, and events can be found under the public lobbies in iRacing. That means any driver can jump in, compete for wins, and battle for points, while VIP members add the bonus of payout eligibility and provisionals when available.
With no fixed weekly schedule, drivers will want to stay plugged in to ICL’s Discord for announcements on when each event will take place. That flexible format has become a familiar part of the ICL experience, allowing the league to keep putting together competitive events while giving racers plenty of notice when it is time to hit the track. For a series built around Martinsville Speedway, that only adds to the anticipation, because every race night will bring a new division, a new challenge, and another chance to take control of the standings.
Here is the randomized division schedule for Season 1 of King of Martinsville Speedway:
- SK Mods
- NASCAR Truck
- ARCA
- Late Model Stock
- NASCAR CUP
- Street Stock
- Modifieds
- NASCAR Xfinity
- Super Late Model
From the opening SK Mods race to the final Super Late Model showdown, King of Martinsville Speedway is shaping up to be one of the most unique championships ICL has offered. Nine races, nine divisions, one legendary venue, and one driver who will eventually stand above the rest as the first ever series champion. For drivers who love short track racing and want to prove they can handle anything Martinsville throws at them, this is the series to watch.
