The King of Martinsville Speedway series returned to Martinsville Speedway for the NASCAR Cup round, and Casey Wynn delivered a massive performance at a critical point in the championship. Wynn started from the pole, led all 40 laps, earned the bonus point, and completed a perfect 13-point night to score the victory. It was Wynn’s 79th career iRacing Champions League start and the 13th win of his ICL career, and it could not have come at a better time with the points battle tightening near the halfway mark of the inaugural season.
Wynn’s win was dominant, but the fight behind him had major championship implications. Tommy J Kreymborg finished second after starting third, continuing an impressive start to his King of Martinsville Speedway campaign. Through two starts in the series, Kreymborg now has two runner-up finishes, and that consistency launched him up seven spots in the standings into fourth overall. Aidan Strawberry came home third after starting seventh, making him one of the best movers among the front-runners and helping him strengthen his hold on third in the championship. Peyton Worden2 followed in fourth, while Brayden E Carter rounded out the top five and did enough to remain the overall points leader.
One of the more interesting details from the race came from the fastest lap category. While Wynn controlled the race from out front, Tanner Zimmerman recorded the quickest lap of the event with a 19.558-second circuit. That gave Zimmerman a notable speed statistic to his name even though Wynn held the race lead throughout. With Wynn out front for all 40 laps, there was no battle for laps led this time, but the runs from Kreymborg and Strawberry stood out as some of the strongest in the field. Strawberry’s drive from seventh to third was especially important because every point matters in this format, and those extra spots helped him keep pace with the leaders in the standings.
The result also continued one of the biggest themes of this inaugural King of Martinsville Speedway season: the contrast between race-winning speed and long-haul consistency. Wynn got the maximum score for the round and cut deeply into the gap, but Brayden E Carter’s fifth-place finish kept his overall championship lead intact. Carter has now started all five races and has yet to fall out of the top 10, which is exactly why he remains the driver everyone is chasing. His 37 points leave him just one point ahead of Wynn’s 36, making the fight for the top spot one of the tightest in the league right now.
Aidan Strawberry remains firmly in the title conversation as well, now sitting third with 30 points after another strong finish. Kreymborg’s jump to fourth with 22 points was the biggest move inside the top positions, and it underlined how quickly a driver can climb in this format with only a couple of high-end results. Jesse Henderson and Doug Welch are tied for fifth with 15, while the single-race winners from earlier rounds remain close enough to stay relevant as the schedule continues. With four races still to go in the nine-race championship, the title fight is far from settled, and every bonus point is starting to feel more important.
What stands out most after this round is that the championship still has multiple possible paths to the top. Wynn now has the race win and momentum. Carter still owns the points lead through consistency. Strawberry keeps stacking valuable finishes. Kreymborg has turned just two appearances into two second-place runs and suddenly looks like a real threat. At Martinsville Speedway, one great race can change a driver’s season, but putting together a complete body of work across different divisions remains the real challenge. That is exactly what is making the King of Martinsville Speedway series one of the most compelling battles on the ICL schedule.
