Aidan Strawberry strengthened his grip on the Modified National Tour Season 3 championship with another victory at Kokomo Speedway, taking Round 13 of the 21-race schedule. Strawberry started second, worked his way to the front and ultimately controlled the 28-lap feature to score 12 more points. The win gives Strawberry his second victory of the season and pushes his championship total to 112 points.
The early portion of the race featured activity at the front from Lucas Adams and Clifford Driskell before Strawberry established himself as the driver to beat. Once the race settled in, Strawberry was able to pull away and build the advantage he needed to secure the victory. His fastest lap came at 12.784 seconds, which was also one of the quickest laps among the leaders.
Tanner Riedel produced the charge of the night. Starting eighth, Riedel climbed six positions to finish second, earning 11 points and recording the hard-charger performance of the feature. The result also gives Riedel another strong finish in a season where he already owns two victories, moving his championship total to 49 points.
One of the biggest stories at Kokomo was Clifford Driskell. Making his first career ICL start, Driskell immediately put together a podium performance, finishing third after starting fifth. He was part of the battle near the front early before ultimately settling into third, an impressive result for a debut appearance. Thomas Smith IV followed in fourth, while Darren Diggs advanced from 10th to fifth.
Kenny Douglas finished sixth and continued his recent climb through the championship standings. Jon Osborn came home seventh, followed by Lucas Adams in eighth. Adams earned the qualifying fast-time bonus point, giving him six total points for the night. Donny Feher finished ninth, while Jason Crump completed the top 10.
The championship picture continues to move heavily in Strawberry’s favor. With 13 of 21 rounds complete, Strawberry leads the Modified National Tour with 112 points, now holding a 30-point advantage over Diggs at 82. Brayden E Carter remains third with 75 points, while Riedel has moved to 49 in fourth. Thomas Smith IV is fifth at 41, followed closely by Kenny Douglas at 37 and Doug Welch at 36.
There are still eight races remaining, meaning as many as 104 points are still available to a driver who could sweep the remaining wins and qualifying bonuses. That keeps the title mathematically open, but Strawberry’s 30-point cushion is now significant. Diggs and Carter remain the closest challengers, while the battle behind them continues to tighten between Riedel, Smith, Douglas and Welch.
