The iRacing Champions League East Regional Championship delivered a milestone night at Crandon International Raceway (Full), producing the largest field to ever start an ICL off road event with 30 trucks taking the green. In an eight-lap sprint where track position is everything and every position pays, the front of the field wasted no time turning it into a high-speed chess match. When it was over, Thad Countryman added another statement win to his season, converting early track position into a controlled run at the front and strengthening his grip on the points lead.

The opening moments decided the shape of the race. Brandon Fourcade led the field to Turn 1, but a jump start drive-through penalty reshuffled the deck immediately and handed the race lead to Countryman. From there, Countryman settled into a rhythm and never let the door open. Sean Winkler and Adam McAfee stayed close for the majority of the event, keeping pressure on the leader, but neither could find a clean lane to complete the move. Once Countryman got out front with clean air, he simply managed the gaps and hit his marks—exactly what it takes to win at Crandon when the laps are short and the margins are tight.

Countryman’s pace backed up the result. He led every lap and also set the fastest lap of the race at 1:10.835, a reminder that this wasn’t just about capitalizing on the early reshuffle—he was fast enough to control the race outright. With ICL points paying 12 to win and stepping down one point per finishing spot, plus 1 point for QuickTime, it’s the kind of maximum-efficiency night that can swing a championship. For Countryman, it adds another major haul to a season where he’s consistently collecting the biggest points available.

Behind the podium fight, the record-setting field produced some of the most impressive recovery drives of the season. Luc Cotoir was the hard charger of the night, ripping from 29th to 16th in only eight laps—an eye-opening gain in heavy traffic. Isaac Ankrom and Tyler Bickford each made big forward progress as well, both climbing 10 positions from their starting spots to finish inside the top 12. With 30 trucks on track, those are the types of runs that can quietly shape the standings by stacking points while others get stuck in the chaos.

On the other side of the ledger, a few drivers had nights that didn’t reflect their ceiling. Ean Stock slipped the most in the finishing order, dropping from 13th to 20th, and Aidan Strawberry went backward from 17th to 23rd, a tough points hit with so much of the field scoring. In a deep event like this, a couple small issues early can create a chain reaction—lose momentum, get trapped behind slower traffic, and suddenly you’re fighting just to limit the damage.

With this round complete, the Pro 4 East Regional Championship points battle is taking a clear shape at the top. Countryman’s ability to stack wins and bonus points is separating him, but the chase group is still very real: McAfee remains within striking range, and Winkler continues to bank consistent top runs to stay firmly in the title conversation. With the next stop heading to Bark River International Raceway for the finale, the stakes only rise—because in ICL scoring, one position is one point, and one clean run can swing the standings fast.
