The iRacing Champions League Midget National Tour rolled into Lanier for its third round of Season 3, and the night delivered one of the most dramatic finishes in league history. With 29 drivers signed in, the action was nonstop from the drop of the green to the final dash across the stripe.

A Wild Start with Rookie Leaders

Making his first career start, James Matsler stole the show early by leading laps from the pole. But heartbreak came quicklyβ€”while pacing the field, Matsler was caught in a lapped-traffic incident that ended his night after just five laps. The same crash also eliminated championship contender James Roselli, who was running second and looking to gain ground in the points battle.

With two contenders sidelined, PJ Bozowski inherited the top spot. In just his third career start, Bozowski looked poised to lock down a breakthrough victory, holding steady as the laps clicked away.

A Last-Lap Shock and Post-Race Drama

As the field came to the white flag, James Turnbull threw a bold slider in turn four, making contact with Bozowski and knocking him out of the lead in the dash to the line. But the celebrations didn’t last long. Following post-race penalties, the win was stripped and awarded to Lachy R. Brett.

In a stunning twist, Brett claimed his first career victory in his first career start, a rare feat in National Tour history.

Hard Charger of the Night

Starting 15th, Axel Rudolph passed ten cars on his way to a top-five finish, earning Hard Charger honors. The rookie’s drive through the field showcased patience and speed, a strong sign of what’s to come.

Championship Picture Tightens

The points battle at the top saw a shakeup. Aidan Strawberry remains in control of the standings after four rounds, thanks to consistencyβ€”two wins and four top-fives keep him clear of the pack. Seth Gregory, perfect in both of his starts this season, holds second and looms just 17 points back with plenty of racing left.

Behind them, Roselli’s early exit at Lanier was costly, dropping him to third and now 22 points behind the leader. The big mover was Bozowski, whose near-win catapulted him up 16 spots in the standings to fourth. With over a dozen races still on the schedule, the title fight is wide open.
