Thad Countryman rolled into his first career ICL start and immediately made it count, leading the way when it mattered most and grabbing his first career win in the series’ biggest moment so far.
Countryman’s night was picture-perfect from the jump. He was never truly under siege, pacing the field across all 10 laps and keeping the pressure behind him at arm’s length. Even with the intensity stacked behind him at the front, Countryman’s pace stayed consistent, and when the dust settled, he had the win — and the maximum points haul for the victory.
Behind him, Sean Winkler did what champions do: he minimized the damage, grabbed a big points day, and officially closed the door on the title fight. Winkler started deeper in the field and immediately went to work, climbing into the battle for the lead early. He stayed in range all race long and, even without the win, he still left Wild West Motorsports Park with a statement — including the fastest lap of the race. That kind of speed has defined this season, and Round 5 was no different.
The fight behind the top two brought its own storylines. Adam McAfee backed up his momentum with a podium run, tying his career-best finish and keeping his name near the front of the conversation. Michael Boyd and Damen Leonard followed with strong top-five efforts, and Leonard’s charge from deeper in the starting order was one of the best position-gainers among the front-runners. Further back, the “hard charger” honors go to James Burk, who stormed from 25th on the grid all the way into the top 10 — a massive move through the field in just 10 laps.
And while Countryman stole the spotlight with a debut win, the biggest headline of the night is still the points picture. With one race remaining in the Wild West Motorsports Park Pro 4 Championship, Winkler has officially clinched the series championship, sealing the deal before the finale even arrives. The battle now shifts to who can finish behind him as the top challengers fight for their own season-defining results in the final round at Wild West.
