Round 3 of the ICL Tour Modified Weekly Series at USA International Speedway delivered a new winner and a serious shake-up in the championship picture. Cole Huard made his series debut count in a big way β qualifying toward the sharp end, marching to the lead, and leading all 25 laps to seal his first Tour Modified victory. Huard also clocked the fastest lap of the race (20.122 on lap 4), underscoring a lights-out performance in clean air. Behind him, Seth Gregory put together the kind of disciplined, points-rich night that heβs becoming known for, while Brayden Smith2 capped the podium after holding steady inside the top five throughout.
The raceβs opening lap dramatically re-shaped the running order. On the backstretch, Brendon Tymon and Braxton DeWeese came together, triggering a lap-one pile-up that collected over half the field. Several drivers sustained heavy damage and were left to climb through traffic (or nurse hurt cars) for the remainder. DeWeeseβs night went from pole pace to a deep finish, and Tymon found himself mired mid-pack with work to do. The mayhem set the stage for Huardβs wire-to-wire control and a tightly bunched chase pack behind the leader.
Mid-race tension spiked again on lap 13. Running second at the time, Seth Gregory looped it off Turn 4. Aidan Strawberry seized the moment, slipping past into the spot β only to spin in Turn 4 himself immediately after, ceding back track position and dropping several places. Strawberry regrouped and still salvaged a top-five, but the sequence underscored how high the limits were, and how quickly momentum could flip. Even with the spin, Strawberryβs Round 3 finish proved crucial in the standings.
There were clear winners and losers in the nightβs position swings. The Hard Charger was Lucas Hardee2, who advanced +9 positions (13th to 4th) with a composed drive through the chaos. On the other side, Braxton DeWeese suffered the toughest night, tumbling -13 positions (1st to 14th) after being swept up in the opening-lap incident. Patrick Mennenga recorded a clean, efficient run to 6th, and Brayden Smith2 made the most of track position to bank a podium on his first start of the season.
In the championship fight, the arithmetic tightened exactly as youβd expect in a 12βtoβ1 points ladder with one point for qualifying quick time. Brendon Tymon still leads the series on 31 points, but his advantage shrank by five with Seth Gregory rising to 26 points. That five-point swing came from Gregoryβs higher Round 3 finish combined with Tymonβs mid-pack result β a reminder that every single position (and the qualifying bonus) matters with three races left. The nightβs other big mover was Aidan Strawberry, who jumped five spots to 3rd in the standings on 17 points, edging Davis Warren (15) and DeWeese (14). Huard debuts at 12 points for the win, immediately inserting himself into the conversation for a late charge.
