Round 2 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Track Championship at delivered a sharp mix of storylines: a second-career ICL win in just a second start, a tight fight for the lead, a first-ever podium for a debuting driver, and a new points leader after only two races of the six-race season. When the eight-lap sprint was over, it was once again Zach Amspacher standing on top, turning another front-row start into a statement victory while the championship table shuffled heavily behind him.

Starting from pole, Amspacher backed up his qualifying pace immediately. He earned the 1-point QuickTime bonus and then converted that into control of the race, but it wasn’t a runaway. From the outside of the front row, Brody Duescher jumped into the mix early, leading a lap and keeping pressure on the leader through the opening portion of the event. For a good chunk of the race, the gap between Zach and Brody was small enough that one mistake from either truck would have changed everything. In the end, Zach’s pace and composure carried the day: he led seven of eight laps, turned the fastest lap of the event at 1:15.967 on lap four, and banked the maximum 13 points (12 for the win plus 1 for qualifying) in what goes down as his second career ICL victory in just his second career start.

Duescher’s night was nearly as impressive. In only his fourth career ICL start, he turned his front-row starting spot into a runner-up finish, tying his best career result. He also snagged a lap led and kept Amspacher honest for most of the distance, eventually crossing the line just over three seconds behind to score 11 points. Behind that battle, the podium was completed by one of the biggest stories of the night: Brian Nicholas. Making his first-ever ICL start, Nicholas started fourth and finished third, gaining a spot and capping his debut with a strong, clean podium. With a best lap of 1:17.284 and 10 points on the board, his first appearance immediately pushed him into the top group of the championship standings.

The battle just outside the podium was stacked with familiar names and shifting fortunes. Series leader after Round 1, Aidan Strawberry, started fifth and came home fourth, adding 9 points to the 11 he scored in the opener to jump to the top of the standings. His 1:17.934 best lap kept him within reach of the front group, and back-to-back top-five finishes have made him the early benchmark for consistency. Behind him, Chad Ball4 spent time in the lead pack and was firmly in the mix until an issue in the whoops cost him track position and dropped him to fifth at the finish. Even with the mistake, his 8-point haul from a third-place start puts him right into the mid-pack battle in the standings. Dusty Fincher quietly logged another solid outing in sixth, backing up his Round 1 top five and moving himself into a tie for the second-most points in the series so far.

Further back, the race produced a blend of small gains and tough breaks that will shape the season as it goes on. Dennis Holley put together a steady run to finish seventh and record his best Pro Lite Track Championship result so far, adding 6 points to his total after a rough opening night. Hunter Dunn chipped away from ninth on the grid to eighth at the finish before a disconnect left him five laps down, but the 5 points he scored kept him in the early top-10 conversation in the standings. Mario Dinatale was classified ninth after a disconnect, while rookie Mason Atwood rounded out the order in 10th after issues and a DQ left him seven laps down. With only two races complete and four still to go, nights like these – even when they aren’t perfect – will matter for drivers fighting for positions deeper in the final table.

When the dust settled on Round 2, the points picture looked very different from the opening night. The scoring format remains straightforward: 1 point for QuickTime, 12 points for the win, 11 for second, and one point less per position after that. Thanks to finishes of second and fourth, Strawberry now leads the Pro Lite Lucas Oil Off Road Track Championship with 20 points and a perfect record of two top-fives in two starts. Fincher’s pair of results (fourth in Round 1 and sixth in Round 2) move him to 16 points and into second place overall. Amspacher’s flawless debut in this series – max points in his first Pro Lite Track Championship appearance – puts him on 13 points and tied for third with Round 1 winner Seth Gregory, who did not score in this race but remains very much in the hunt. Just behind them, Duescher’s 11-point debut places him fifth, while a group of drivers including Dunn, Laybourn, Nicholas, Ball, Dittmer, and Holley are already fighting over critical early-season ground with four rounds still to be run.
