The King of Charlotte Motor Speedway Season 1 rolled on December 31, 2025, with Race 5 bringing another meaningful shift to both the race results and the championship standings. With several divisions already completed and only a limited number of races remaining in the season, every point carried added importance. The Charlotte Motor Speedway oval once again rewarded precision and execution, and the results further clarified which drivers are positioning themselves as true title contenders as the series heads into its later stages.
Matt Schlosser emerged as the story of the night, earning his first career ICL win in just his third career start. Schlosser started on the pole, converted that track position into control of the race, and led all 22 laps to secure the maximum 12 race points. He also picked up the bonus point for qualifying fast time, giving him a near-perfect points night and instantly elevating his presence in the championship conversation. The performance marked a major step forward for a driver still early in his ICL career.
Braxton DeWeese continued his season-long consistency with a strong second-place finish. DeWeese briefly took the lead near the midpoint of the race but was unable to hold it long-term. Late in the event, a slight brush with the wall gave Schlosser the buffer he needed to maintain control. Still, DeWeese’s 11-point result proved valuable, as it helped him maintain the overall points lead and extend his advantage over several close challengers. With four races now counted, DeWeese’s ability to repeatedly finish near the front continues to separate him from the rest of the field.
Dan Adkins finished third in what was his first career ICL start, making it one of the most impressive debuts of the season so far. Adkins showed immediate pace and composure, turning his opportunity into a top-three finish and 10 race points. Just behind him, Aidan Strawberry crossed the line fourth, adding another solid result to his season and keeping himself firmly within reach of the championship lead. Garrett Boyd completed the top five, recording a career-best finish in just his second career start, another example of how new drivers are finding success in the King of Charlotte format.
Further back, several drivers experienced contrasting nights that impacted the standings. Dusty Fincher, coming off a recent win earlier in the season, finished ninth and left Charlotte with fewer points than he had hoped, slowing his momentum in the standings. Brayden E Carter also had a tougher outing relative to previous races, while drivers like Tom Mohnemus and Zach Amsbacher quietly added important mid-pack points that could prove valuable as the season tightens. With each race counting toward the overall total, even incremental gains are becoming increasingly important.
From a points perspective, the championship picture remains tightly packed behind DeWeese. Aidan Strawberry and Davis Warren continue to apply pressure near the top, while Schlosser’s breakout win vaults him deeper into contention with multiple races still remaining. With limited opportunities left to score big points, the balance between consistency and race-winning upside will likely define who ultimately claims the King of Charlotte crown.
