The opening round of the inaugural Lucas Oil Off Road Track Championship delivered exactly what you’d expect from a fresh ICL campaign: a new points battle, familiar names back at the front, and a late charge that came up just short at the line. When the first 8-lap feature of Season 1 was complete, it was Seth Gregory who stood atop the results, converting pole position and qualifying quick time into a wire-to-wire victory to take the early lead in the Track Championship standings.

Gregory’s night started perfectly with quick time in qualifying, earning the -important 1-point bonus before the field ever took the green. From there, he did exactly what any driver hopes to do from P1: he led all eight laps and controlled the tempo of the event. His best lap of 1:17.589 came on lap five and set the bar for the rest of the field, but the race was far from a cruise. While Seth managed the clean air, he had to withstand a late charge from one of ICL’s most familiar names.

That charge came from fourth-place starter Aidan Strawberry, who once again showed why he’s a threat in anything on dirt. Aidan methodically worked his way into second and then began to chip away at Gregory’s advantage in the closing laps. He actually set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:17.566 on lap six – a few thousandths quicker than the leader – and kept the pressure on all the way to the end. In the end, though, the margin was just over a second, and Strawberry had to settle for second place and 11 points on the night, leaving Gregory with the max haul of 13 (12 for the win plus 1 for quick time).

Behind the lead duo, there was plenty of movement and a couple of standout drives. The hard charger of the night was Logan Laybourn3, who advanced from seventh on the grid to finish third, gaining four positions and banking 10 points in the process. Just behind him, Dusty Fincher continued his trend of front-running consistency, moving up one spot from fifth to fourth by the checkered flag and turning a best lap of 1:18.495 along the way. Rounding out the top five, Brandon Dittmer converted a sixth-place start into a fifth-place finish to open his Track Championship with an 8-point night.

The story of the debut race wasn’t just about the front-runners. A group of drivers deeper in the field quietly built strong foundations for their seasons. Chase Miller9 started second but slipped to sixth at the finish, still securing 7 valuable points. Rookie entrant Chelsey Hill made one of the biggest moves of the race, climbing from 13th on the grid to ninth at the finish and gaining four positions in her first Track Championship start. Hunter Dunn held station comfortably in the mid-pack, going from ninth to eighth, while Jeremy Paterson2 put together a clean run from eighth to seventh. On the other side of things, it was a tough night for Dennis Holley, who started third but saw his race end with scoring invalidated and an 11th-place classification, costing him eight spots from his starting position and limiting his score to just 2 points.

With the first of six races complete, the early Pro Lite Lucas Oil Off Road Track Championship standings are already beginning to take shape. The scoring system awards 1 point for quick time, 12 points to the winner, 11 for second, and one point less for each position after that. Gregory’s perfect opener puts him on top with 13 points, while Strawberry’s runner-up and fastest-lap pace give him 11 and keep him well within striking distance. Laybourn’s charge to third puts him on 10, with Fincher on 9 and Dittmer on 8 to complete a tightly packed early top five. With five events still to run and plenty of random race nights ahead, no one has broken away yet – but the tone for the season has been set: qualifying speed, mistake-free features, and forward progress will decide the first-ever Pro Lite Track Champion.
